چکیده

An important issue in developing a model-based vision system is the speciication of features that are-(a) invariant to viewing and scene conditions, and also-(b) speciic, i.e., the feature must have diierent values for diierent classes of objects. We formulate a new approach for establishing invariant features. Our approach is unique in the eld since it considers not just surface reeection and surface geometry in the speciication of invariant features, but it also takes into account internal object composition and state which aaect images sensed in the non-visible spectrum. A new type of invariance called Thermophysical Invariance is deened. Features are deened such that they are functions of only the thermophysical properties of the imaged objects. The approach is based on a physics-based model that is derived from the principle of the conservation of energy applied at the surface of the imaged object.

Using Elimination Methods to Compute Thermophysical Algebraic Invariants from Infrared Imagery

We describe a new approach for computing invariant features in infrared (IR) images. Our approach is unique in the eld since it considers not just surface reeection and surface geometry in the speciication of invariant features, but it also takes into account internal object composition and thermal state which aaect images sensed in the non-visible spectrum. We rst establish a non-linear energy...

Object Recognition Based on Moment (or Algebraic) Invariants

Toward the development of an object recognition and positioning system, able to deal with arbitrary shaped objects in cluttered environments, we introduce methods for checking the match of two arbitrary curves in 2D or surfaces in 3D, when each of these subobjects (i.e., regions) is in arbitrary position, and we also show how to efficiently compute explicit expressions for the coordinate transf...

Spiral Object Recognition on Clusters

Object matching has many potential applications in industry, defense and medical science. Most matching methods introduced in recent years are based on the invariant representations. Main invariants applied in computer vision are algebraic, differential invariants and integral invariants. Our approach in this paper uses an affine integral invariant within a Spiral Architecture. The invariant re...

Comparing the Capability of Sentinel 2 and Landsat 8 Satellite Imagery in Land Use and Land Cover Mapping Using Pixel-based and Object-based Classification Methods

Introduction: Having accurate and up-to-date information on the status of land use and land cover change is a key point to protecting natural resources, sustainable agriculture management and urban development. Preparing the land cover and land use maps with traditional methods is usually time and cost consuming. Nowadays satellite imagery provides the possibility to prepare these maps in less ...
